Hauntings:

Carluccio’s is one of the top haunted restaurants in the country and sits at the top of the list of the most Haunted Places in Vegas. John said it has been investigated by paranormal researchers no less than five times. "They took some pictures, and in several there is a blurry spot as if something was moving around the restaurant, following the photographers." Hosier said, "Each time, there were unexplained noises, unexpected lights, and even one apparition."

John said there are many ghostly encounters.

"This happened right after Liberace passed," he said. "The restaurant was empty and three ladies stayed in the building to hold open houses to try and sell the place. Remember the place was in such disarray from the workers just leaving after their last shift, so it was kind of creepy to begin with." Hosier said the women were constantly reporting phenomenon such as odd noises, objects falling for no reason and unexplained movement out of the corner of their eye.

When the Carluccios bought the place, a group of movers was hired to clean up the mess. "There was this big, burly guy," John said. "He went in to get a load and walked out visibly shaken. All he would say is he wouldn’t ever step foot in that building again."

The presence in the restaurant may be the spirit of Liberace. Unusual activity peaks on February 4, the anniversary of his death, and May 16, his birthday. "That’s when the most things happen," he said. "We lose power just in this building, appliances break down. Toilets flush by themselves."

Bartender Kelly Stanley, who has been with the restaurant since the Carluccios said she agrees.

"You have bottles drop down from the bar area," she said. "They’ve fallen onto my head a couple of times. I saw something in the doorway one time. It spooked me so bad Ijust had to leave. When you start seeing your breath when it’s warm out, you know there’s something not right," Stanley said.

The phenomenon is strongest near Liberace’s piano. Employees have experienced cold spots and unexplained noises throughout the restaurant.

Food Server Oscar Ortiz years ago said while he was cleaning the mirrors in the Piano Room he witnessed a caped figure standing behind him in the mirror on more than one occasion.

In "The Mafia room," John said they’ve tried to hang pictures from the walls. The pictures keep crashing to the floor.

John said he’s not worried about the ghosts. "I’m trying to keep this place exactly like it was when Liberace owned it. If there are any spirits here, they seem to appreciate that."

The paranormal aspect of the restaurant even made national television. The Travel Channel did a spot in 2001 in its "Haunted Places of America." In 2007, Montel Williams featured Carluccios on his syndicated program.

Keep a sharp ear for odd noises. And try the calamari. It’s delicious.
